With 150+ new management positions created each year, and over 1,000 new jobs across the business, we are always looking to develop and promote our own people and aspire to have 50% of managers promoted from within.
We provide clear career pathways so you can see the steps needed to progress in hospitality — whether you want to become a Head Chef, General Manager or Operations Manager.

Assistant Manager and Sous Chef Step Up Programme
The purpose of the Assistant Manager and Sous Chef Step Up programmes are to grow our next generation of brilliant Head Chefs and General Managers from within.
- 6-month structured development programme
- 5 in-person training sessions away from your Lounge
- Practical leadership and operational training
- Focused in-site development plans
Each year, we provide around 200 places for team members ready to take the next step in their hospitality careers.
They (the courses) were all valuable. Having previously completed a certified business management and training course, this further developed my knowledge and understanding of Lounge specifics.
The whole programme was super insightful … I did feel like my mindset was changed as well as the way I think about things both on a self-reflection basis and how I can use the tools with teams.
Future Ops Development Programme
The Future Ops Programme develops our future Operations Managers and Operations Chefs.
- Designed for Senior General Managers and Senior Head Chefs, the programme covers:
- Advanced leadership development
- Employee relations and people management
- Change management and commercial thinking
- Working with senior leaders across the business to build relationships
Participants also spend time with senior stakeholders, including our Managing Director and Finance Director.
Leadership Training
We have on offer a range of leadership development and training support depending on your role, and we aspire to provide our Operations team with at least 2 days of dedicated leadership development time every year.
Overall I felt it was very useful the tools given to perform better within my role and stepping up.
